The KAT series is DIDW centrifugal fan with forward curved (FC) impellers. The fans are suitable for supply and exhaust applications in commercial, process and industrial HVAC systems. Ranges KAT-9/7 to KAT 18-18 are AMCA certified to Air, Sound and FEG.

The KAT series is available in Type S and C.

KAT series is also available in twin fan version with two double inlet fans mounted on the same shaft.

KAT fans are operated at relatively low speeds and are used to deliver large air volumes against relatively low static pressures. The inherently light construction of the forward curved wheel does not permit it to be operated at speeds needed to generate high static pressure.

The typical application range of this type of fan is from 30 to 80% wide open airflow. Selecting an operating point below approximately 30% wide open may place the fan in an area of instability. Similarly, an operating point beyond 80% wide open typically produces noise and inefficiency.

The maximum static efficiency is from approximately 50 to 65% and occurs just to the right of the maximum static-pressure point on the fan performance curve.

Quick Facts

•  Size from 7 to 18 inches

•  Capacities to 25,000 m3/h

•  Total pressure up to 1700 Pa

•  Suitable for use in packaged unit, AHU, clean room and ventilation

Application

For supply or exhaust application in commercial, institutions and industrial HVAC systems.

Testing

Both air and sound performance ratings are based on test to AMCA210 and AMCA300 Standards.

All wheels are statically and dynamically balanced to ISO1940 and AMCA204 - G2.5 Standards.

Outlet flanges are available upon request.

Wheel

The wheel of KAT series is made of galvanized sheet steel forward curved blades. The wheels are specially profiled to obtain a maximum efficiency and low noise level.

Housing

The housing is manufactured in galvanised sheet steel with the housing fixed to the side plates by means of electric spot welding. A series of holes previously formed in the side plate enable the housing to be mounted in four different orientations. All the unused holes in the side plate are plugged with a plastic cap to prevent air leakage.

Frame

The frame is manufactured with galvanized angular bars. The frame is fabricated and spot welded to ensures maximum rigidity and in accordance with the allowed dimensional tolerances.

Shaft

Shafts are manufactured from C45 carbon steel. All shafts are coated with an anti-corrosion varnish after assembly.

Bearings

Bearings used are either deep groove ball bearing type sealed at both sides. The sealings are self-aligned with an eccentric locking for clamping onto the shaft and is mounted in a rubber housing.
